Naughty Newcastle 10th most romantic city in UK

Girls, get excited. Maybe this year won’t consist of crying alone to Adele

Newcastle has been named as one of the most romantic cities in the UK, coming just behind Glasgow and Bristol in a recent survey.

The city of love

On a quest to crown the most romantic places across the country, tech company Postcode Anywhere, sifted through receipts of  purchases for flowers, chocolates, lingerie, jewellery, adult gifts and fragrances that 8,000 customers bought their loved ones.

The research revealed cheeky Canterbury was the most romantic city, coming just before lusty London and beautiful Bristol.

Wolverhampton was dubbed the least romantic place in the UK.

The research also found that Londoners are most likely to purchase flowers whereas people from Birmingham were the kinkiest –  ranked 1st place for the purchases of adult gifts and lingeries.

It appears we all have different opinions on Valentines day though.

Second year English Literature student Max said “Valentines day sucks balls. I hate the day and everything to do with it. If I had a girlfriend I’d probably buy her a gift, but that’s never going to happen because I’m ugly. I don’t think Newcastle is a very romantic city either. Well, unless you are a fan of dingy lit night clubs, kebabs and really strong accents.”

Romantic meal for two

Third year history student Grace told The Tab: “I love Valentine’s day! I think Newcastle initself is a very romantic city, nothing can beat strolling hand in hand through the leady streets of Jezzy. And when I’m feeling romantic, the soft candlelight in Fat Hippo sorts me right out”
