Riverside For Sale

Riverside has been listed for sale for £650,000. Will it still be a club or are we better off without it?

Riverside, which was one of the most popular student destinations for a Friday night, is for sale. The asking price is £650,000 with the bid deadline being 5pm yesterday.

The club is one of 13 properties in the North-East being sold by PBR Leisure as part of a refinancing deal taken out before Christmas, to reduce debt from 63.1m to 20m.  The popular Klute nightclub in Durham, has also been put up for sale by the company.

Estate agent for the property Ross Bettridge told The Tab that there had been “significant interest” in the property with several bids coming in.

There is no guarantee that the property will stay as a nightclub.  The property, as well as an A3 licence, has potential office or residential permits, meaning developers could be bidding to turn it into swanky Quayside apartments.

Many students will be sad to see the place turned into a residential or office space as it hosted Tequila and also the RnB infested Friday nights that became so famous in the town.
