22-year-old Manchester nurse caught driving 29 times over the ketamine limit

She crashed into three separate cars

A Manchester trainee nurse has been banned from the roads after she was caught 29 times over the legal ketamine limit while driving.

22-year-old Emily Roebuck, a trainee dental nurse from Bramhall in Stockport, was arrested on three separate incidents in 10 weeks due to driving while intoxicated on a cocktail of ketamine and diazepam.

The first time she was pulled over by police occurred within Manchester city centre in January 2019. Tests showed the ketamine found in her blood levels was more than 29 times the legal limit.

Five weeks later she was arrested for a second time after a passer-by found her asleep in the driver's seat and was concerned about her safety.

Victoria Newman, the head prosecutor for her case said: "Police were called initially to reports of a drunk driver slumped at the wheel of a Peugeot 107.

"A member of the public had moved the female over to the passenger side as [they] feared her driving away.

"The police noticed the defendant was drowsy and under the influence of some substance, her eyes being glazed and slurring her words."

After the police arrived at the scene they found diazepam in Emily's pocket. She admitted to the officers that she had taken one before driving even though they were not prescribed to her.

Following the second incident, Roebuck continued to drive around Manchester under the influence of drugs. She was arrested for the third and final time for reckless driving on 12 April 2019, in New Mills, Derbyshire, just outside Stockport.

A witness watched as Roebuck crashed into another driver: "She was stationary in her car waiting for traffic to pass, when her vehicle was struck from behind by the defendants car.

"It was hit with enough force to set off both of the airbags."

It has been reported that Emily drove away from the scene before the police arrived, but she quickly came to a stop after colliding with another two vehicles down the road from the initial incident she was involved in.

Tests have showed on this occasion that levels of ketamine were 86 microgrammes per litre of blood and levels of diazepam were 800 microgrammes per litre of blood respectively. The legal driving limit for ketamine is 20 microgrammes per litre of blood.

The Manchester trainee dental nurse has said to have been cooperating with the police and entered guilty pleas on all accounts at the first opportunity.

Her defence lawyer, Steve McHugh, said: "She is disappointed in herself and her father is mortified at the position his daughter finds herself in".

Roebuck has been ordered to complete a 12-month community order and enrol on a six-month drug rehabilitation course. She is also subjected to 180 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £170 for damages she has caused.

It is reported that Emily now has to get two buses to work.
