A stray cat gave birth to five kittens in a Fallowfield student house

They’d only been feeding the cat for three weeks

A house of Fallowfield students were sent into a surprise feline frenzy this week when they found the cat they had been looking after had given birth to kittens – on their sofa!

We have exclusive adorable videos of the cats on our Instagram page.

Over the past three weeks, the Albion Road residents had been feeding a stray who often stopped by. They gave her the name Donatella Arabella, but little did they know that they would soon have to think of five more.

One morning, the housemates came downstairs to find that Donatella had given birth to five tiny black kittens overnight.

MMU student Olivia Lightbown, a member of the house, shared the adorable news on Fallowfield Students Group, saying: "As you can imagine we are shook as fuck".

After appealing for pet supplies in the post, the housemates were greeted with an overwhelming response. The kittens' cuteness was enough to receive dozens of packets of cat food from students and Chorlton Cats Charity.

The FSG post has since racked up 2,300 likes and hundreds of comments, with many students divided between giving advice and asking if they can adopt one of the tiny fluffballs.

Olivia told The Manchester Tab that she suspected Donatella was pregnant. Her pals, however, weren't ready for the shock turn of events.

"My housemates didn't believe me!" she said.

So what will happen now? The house plan to look after the cat clan until they're old enough to go to loving homes.

In the meantime, an animal carer will be visiting to check Donatella for a microchip.
