There’s a free Harry Potter experience coming to Manchester

You can be sorted by the actual Sorting Hat

On Sunday 10th December the Magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter is coming to Central Library from 12-4pm, and Potterheads should get excited.

Dumbledore, Hagrid, Snape, McGonagall and the fit – I mean famous – Harry Potter himself will be there. You can bag yourself an autograph or maybe even a place at Hogwarts if you try hard enough.

There will also be a variety of magical events on offer, such as Hagrid's Magical Games, The Sorting Hat and The Battle of the Wizards show, which promises live "action, entertainment and comedy".

Or, if you don't want to get involved with fighting any Death Eaters, you can head over to Magical Crafts and Activities, where you can build your very own broomstick, wand, house badge and even a Golden Snitch!

Snape, Snape, Severus Snape.

There's also green screen animation, so you can pretend you really are Harry, Hermione or Ron, as well as a face painting station if you fancy being turned into a Hippogriff.

Activities are free for everyone, but the event managers warn that places and materials are limited. Take a Portkey and get there early so you don't miss out.
