Manchester has been ranked the 8th best uni in the UK

And 54th in the world


The University of Manchester has been been placed 8th in the UK and 54th in the world in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018 which were released last night.

This places UoM higher than rivals Bristol and Leeds, topped only by Oxbridge, four London unis and Edinburgh.

The rankings list the top 1,000 unis in the world and is based on teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook, using 13 "carefully calibrated performance indicators".

Manchester was 8th in the UK in The Times' 2017 rankings too, but we have moved up one place globally, from 55 to 54.
