A man’s body is believed to have been discovered by construction staff this morning, as they arrived to work on the former BBC studios site on Oxford Road.

The site is currently being converted into student flats but has now been cordoned off by Greater Manchester Police who have forensic officers at the scene.

It is thought that the man gained access to the building site over the weekend but police are working to determine what exactly happened.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said:

“Shortly before 7:50am on Monday, May 8, 2017, police were called to reports that a body had been found on Oxford Road in Manchester city centre.

“Enquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.”
