Where to take your special someone for Valentine’s day in Manchester

These options are also viable for dinner alone

Love is in the air and it’s time to find yourself a date and woo them hard. Here’s a round up of the best places to eat and drink in Manchester for V day.

Revs

If you’re looking to impress but still strapped for cash, Revolution is the place for you. Revs card holders can get 25 per cent off all food all day everyday, 241 cocktails and discounted pints.

Northern Soul

Looking for lunch around town? Northern Soul Grilled Cheese. Bringing your mac ‘n’ cheese grilled cheese sandwiches. Yes, you heard, double cheese. Add some pulled pork or tandoori chicken to really up your game. Oh, and Justin Bieber ordered from here when he was playing at MEN Arena. If it’s good enough for Bieber, it’s good enough for the rest of us.

 Gorilla/Trof

Splashing out? Gorilla, just off Oxford Road, and its sister restaurant Trof in Northern Quarter do the best brunches until 4pm for a reasonable price. Recommended: a bloody Mary and eggs Benedict. It’s the best. Also, Trof has a pub quiz on Tuesdays, perfect timing for this year’s V day.

Night and Day

Want to take quirky Instagram pictures? Night and Day café in Northern Quarter is pricey on drinks, but not bad food wise. Good for those of you who want to feel like a Mancunion hipster for a while. They also hold live music or DJ sets regularly, check out their website for listings and tickets.

Odd Bar

Odd Bar is great for those of you celebrating Valentine’s day later in the week: 50 per cent off food all day on Thursdays and music events on daily. Happy hours are Thursdays, from 9pm to midnight, and Fridays, from 5pm to 11pm. You can get cocktails for a fiver and beer from £3. Definitely worth a visit.

Las Iguanas

There might be cooler places in Manchester, but you can’t miss out on Las Iguanas. They do 25 per cent off for students Sunday to Thursday and 241 cocktails all day every day. What are you waiting for?

Turtle Bay

Again, there will be less clichéd places to take your bf/gf in Manchester, but Turtle Bay (bae?) is a crowd pleaser. 241 cocktails and jerk chicken, yes please.

Spoons

If you can’t be bothered putting much effort in or have a tight budget, Manchester has a variety of Wetherspoons to choose from. With daily club deals and cheap drinks, what could go wrong?

McDonald’s/Tesco

Alternatively – Maccies have £1.99 meal deals on the back of bus tickets and Tesco do two for £4 microwavable meals. Winning.

The Friendship Inn

Last but definitely not least, there’s Friendship. The classic old favourite.  Let’s not pretend that we’re superior and want to venture anywhere else. Pub quiz on a Tuesday, fairly cheap grub and there will definitely be someone there you know just in case your date is shit. All round favourite.

Happy Valentine’s Day, kids. Stay safe.
