There’s going to be a vegan ball in November

Fresh off the vegan scene

We’ve all had our fair share of balls this year, or at least throughout our time at uni: subject balls, halls balls, AU Balls, you get the gist. To an extent, they’re all the same. But things are about to change.

We all know how balls work. You get all dressed up with your friends, drink too much free wine, meet people, eat food, drink some more, perhaps dance, embarrass yourself and go home.

You would be forgiven for thinking that attending a ball as a vegan would be a difficult affair, but au contraire.

Apart from being given fruit as starter AND a dessert, or perhaps a uniquely tasting crème brulée, the food is fantastic. Personally dry chicken and greens just don’t seem as appetising or nutritious as a roasted pepper stuffed with couscous and sautéed veg, but maybe that’s just me.

To those vegans who didn’t think to ask whether vegan options were available, and may have abstained from going to these events, this article is for you. Why should we have to miss out on all the fun just because we’re vegan?

This is where the vegan ball comes into play. For £45 you can eat vegan food to your heart’s content (that’s right, its a buffet), this year, in Manchester, on November the 19th.

Don’t like dressing up? Not a problem. Still haven’t come out as vegan to your family/friends yet? That’s okay. The theme is masquerade, so as long as you have a mask and a ticket, you can wear what you like, as the dress code is “Black tie, or not”.

You can even get creative with your masks

It might seem a bit expensive, but for those vegans out there or other people interested in the lifestyle – it’s an event worth checking out. All the proceeds from the event will be donated to vegan friendly animal charities, so it’s all for a good cause. The Facebook event currently has 131 people attending and more than 500 interested, with six months still to go!
