Man United game called off due to bomb scare at Old Trafford

Kick off was delayed followed by a full evacuation of the site

Spectators have been evacuated from the Manchester United stadium this afternoon just before kick-off of Premier League match against Bournemouth F.C.

Police have not released much information as of yet, but the game has been called off due to a bomb scare.

Fans have been evacuated from the premises

Spectators were told that a “suspicious package” had been found in the North West Quadrant and were quickly evacuated to the areas outside the stadium near the car park.

Minutes later the crowds were evacuated further away from the stadium and told the game would not take place.

The police are still investigating the incident and are yet to confirm the contents of the package.

According to BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty “There are still thousands of fans inside Old Trafford’s East Stand and also in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand”.

“Bournemouth fans are not happy and chant ‘Champions League you’re having a laugh’, but the authorities really have no alternative in a situation like this”.
