More dodgy pills circulating after two women hospitalised

A week ago a 17-year-old girl died at Victoria Warehouse due to a ‘MasterCard’ pill

The two women took pills shaped like Lego bricks whilst at a club on Princess Street.

They were taken to hospital shortly after 1.30am on Sunday.

The two 21-year-olds fell unconscious due to an “adverse reaction” to the pill and an ambulance was called to the venue.

The two women had admitted to taking a kind of MDMA known as Lego and regained consciousness in the ambulance.

One of the victims has been released from hospital, but the other is being kept for further observation.

The police have given repeated warnings not to take ecstasy pills

Detective Inspector Brian Morley of GMP’s City Centre Division said the women are ‘very lucky’.

He told the MEN: “I’m happy to be saying that they should make a full recovery, but the reality is, I could easily have been giving my condolences to their families instead.

“Less than a week ago we had the sad death of a 17-year-old girl in Greater Manchester after taking an ecstasy pill.

“We hoped that this would act as a warning to other young people about putting these substances in their bodies – you really don’t know what you are taking or how it will affect you. Young people are not taking the advice they’re offered.

“Last week we were able to quickly make arrests connected to the supply of ecstasy tablets to the 17-year-old girl and her friends. We will be working just as hard to find those responsible for bringing more of these class A drugs onto the streets of Manchester City Centre.

“To those thinking about taking these drugs – They are illegal for a reason.”

Sarah, second year Maths student, told The Tab: “It’s so scary because it could literally be anyone, everyone takes pills they’ve never taken before and no one knows what goes into them, really.”

Police are asking anyone who has taken the ‘Lego’ MDMA pill to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
