A Manchester grad won University Challenge last night

She was the captain of the winning Cambridge team

Last night’s University Challenge winners were captained by Hannah Woods, a graduate from the University of Manchester.

Hannah Woods, a PhD student studying cultural history at Cambridge, is also a graduate from the University of Manchester. Woods has been a key character in this series of the show, as she gained recognition for her remarkable eyebrows. There has even been a spoof twitter account set up in their honour.

Woods, as the only female in the final, lead her team to an impressive victory as Peterhouse College Cambridge beat St John’s College Oxford by 215 points to 30. This gives Cambridge the title for three consecutive years, beating a different college from Oxford University each time. The two years prior to this were won by the University of Manchester.
