Manchester ranked 24th best uni in UK by the students

MMU ranked 65 places below UoM

The website Whatuni.com has revealed a list ranking the top 125 universities based on student satisfaction.

The University of Manchester has come an impressive 24th out of 125 universities based on student satisfaction ratings.

25,000 students participated in the survey that collected information across 10 categories – accommodation, city life, clubs and societies, courses and lecturers, job prospects, student union, facilities, support services and an overall rating. First place went to Harper Adams University, a specialist university in the agricultural and rural sector. (We’d never heard of it either).

The top 5 were:

1. Harper Adams University

2. Loughborough University

3. Swansea University

4. Bangor University

5. University of Leeds

The University of Manchester went up 2 places from last year, ranking 24th out of 100, unfortunately still placing below a few of our northern rivals such as Leeds and Sheffield. However, we were ranked well ahead of both Oxford (50th) and Cambridge (46th).

To our surprise universities including Nottingham Trent, Leeds College of Art and Sunderland all ranked higher than us. But at least we don’t have to live in Sunderland.

Salford ranked 47th this year, making a huge improvement from last year’s ranking of 101st and beat MMU who went down to 89th.

According to the data the elite universities did not fare so well, with the top London universities ranking 60th at best (Imperial College London) down to Kings College London placing only 92nd out of the 125 universities.
