Revealed: The Parklife Weekender full line-up

Parklife announce surprise acts ahead of this weekend’s sell-out festival

Mistajam, Friendly Fires, Shadow Child, T.Williams and many more have been announced as surprise acts for Parklife 2014.

It’s already the biggest line up the festival has ever seen, and now Parklife have revealed seventeen exciting last minute acts for this weekend’s event.

Parklife has teamed up Desperados to unveil yet more additions to their already dominating line-up.

The Desperados Detonate Arena will welcome indie/electronic three piece Friendly Fires and BBC Radio 1 regular Mistajam to Manchester for the two day celebration. They’ll appear alongside some of the most acclaimed names in electronic music from underground talent T.Williams, Shadow Child, The 2 Bears and Friend Within, to homegrown heroes Krystal Klear, Krysko and Rich Reason.

The line up

Jack Savidge of Friendly Fires heads up the Saturday night celebrations alongside Rinse.FM regular T.Williams and The 2 Bears, who will bring the perfect summer atmosphere to Heaton Park with their unique blend of tropical house, dub and hip hop.

Huxley will no doubt play one of his characteristically high energy sets alongside local Manchester stalwarts Krystal Klear, and The Warehouse Project residents Krysko & Greg Lord. Huxley has also been revealed as one of the special guest acts for the official Parklife Weekender after parties, and will appear at Gorilla for the ‘Bass Face & Awaken Presents’ party alongside T.Williams.

Sunday will belong to acclaimed BBC Radio 1 DJ Mistajam who, as founder of the ‘Speakerbox’ event series, has become one of the most talked about names in dance music. Sharing the stage will be Dirtybird family member Shadow Child, who has crafted a name for himself with his jacking house sound. Recent Disclosure collaborator Friend Within will play his Parklife debut, whilst Secondcity, who has seen releases on the infamous Defected Records, will make The Desperados Detonate Arena one of the highlights of the entire weekend.

And the new additions add to an already massive line-up. This is the most star studdedstar-studded line up the Manc-based festival has ever seen – not only have they managed to bag Foals, but this year we’ll be dropping it like it’s hot with none other than Snoop Dogg.

Parklife 2013

The festival will take place at Heaton Park for the second time, with Snoop headlining on Saturday June 7, and Foals performing on Sunday June 8.

Iggy on stage at last year’s event

But the headliners aren’t the only big dogs set to take the stage at this year’s event: Disclosure, SBTRKT, Kendrick Lamar (a UK exclusive), Bastille, Sam Smith are also among the epic line-up.

And there’s more

There was a mixed reaction from students last year when the festival moved to Heaton Park from its Fallowfield home in Platt Fields. And there’s been yet another hike-up in ticket prices this year, with one student saying they’d “rather buy 75 packets of Haribo than a Parklife ticket”.

But, the new location has allowed Parklife to expand in size and in the quality of its line-up. Two years ago, when the festival was at Platt Fields, headliners included Dizzee Rascal and The Flaming Lips – not quite on par with this mornings announcement.

Organisers of Parklife said: “We are so excited to be returning to Heaton Park in 2014 and have been working hard to pull together the biggest and most daring Parklife line-up we can muster.”

The 2013 crowd absolutely having it

Although Parklife may no longer be a festival just for the students, not many other students can enjoy a major national music event with an international line-up of acts straight after their exams in their own city. Let’s just hope that the transport hiccups of last year don’t leave festival go-ers waiting three hours to get home again.
