My week in clothes #1: Alex Arfaras

Seven days in the life of one of Manchester’s most fashionable students

The first ever model for My Week In Clothes is second year Art History Student Alex Arfaras. Preparing for a career in fashion, Alex blogs in her spare time and describes her style as ‘not one seen frequently amongst students’.

Alex always looks chic, sophisticated and bang on trend whilst keeping to a student budget. She tells us that she is a sucker for sharp tailoring and certain timeless pieces, only investing in key items such as a classic coat allowing her to accessorize with new trends without breaking the bank. As said by Vivienne Westwood herself, ‘Buy less, choose well’.

DAY 1

Alex kicks off the cold and dreary week in this colourful number, keeping warm and comfortable for a long day of lectures. Having donned monochrome for the majority of the winter, she wanted to brighten up her wardrobe a bit, saying ‘who said brights were just for summer?’.

DAY 2

With a day off uni, she hops on a bus to Liverpool to visit her boyfriend. ‘This outfit is a tad dressy for the day’ she admits, ‘but I’m a sucker for anything shiny, and we’re in Liverpool, the capital of OTT!” Sparkly shirt, check. Scouse brow? A resounding no!

DAY 3

Our favourite look of the week, classic and sophisticated with a pop of colour. She got these trousers for £9.99 in queen of the high street, Zara, her all time favourite shop. The Handbag was a hand-me-down from her mother.

DAY 4

With a long gap between lectures, Alex heads for lunch in Manchester’s famous Northern Quater to a little cafe called Blue Daisy for lunch, whilst keeping cosy in her faux-fur gilet.

DAY 5

It’s Friday night and Alex is spending her evening at The Alchemist in Spinningfields with some friends from her course. She stops her outfit from being too ‘dressy’ with some chunky black ankle boots whilst keeping warm in a cosy faux fur jacket.

DAY 6

Alex spends most of her Saturday at home in her pyjamas before she heads back out for the evening. She looks a million dollars in her £24.99 Missguided jumpsuit, accessorized with minimalistic gold detailing.

DAY 7

Surprisingly, its not actually raining in Manchester today and Alex takes full advantage outfit-wise. ‘In my mind that is enough to call it summer- out come the brights!’
