Star Wars open auditions coming to Manchester

Open auditions will be held in Manchester this weekend for the new Star Wars films.

Directors are casting two of the lead roles at the open event, which will be held at the Progress Centre.

The characters being casted are Rachel, an attractive 17 – 18 year old girl, and Thomas, an athletic man aged 19 – 23.

The original film came out in 1977

If you’re planning on having ago, you need to take a photograph of yourself, and each audition will last about 5 minutes.

News of the casting call was released on twitter by the account @UKopencall, and millions have now read about it.

Auditions have already been held in Bristol, where 2,000 wannabe-jedis turned up – of these, only 75 received callbacks.

Early artwork for the new films

Disney bought Lucas Arts in 2012 for $4 billion, and announced a new trilogy of the sci-fi series later that year.

The first of the three films, Episode VII, will be released in December 2015.

The Manchester auditions will run from 10am – 2pm on 16th and 17th November.
