Loughborough is the sixth best uni in the country for dealing with mental health

According to our Mental Health Rankings 2017

Loughborough is coming in in the top 10 again as it has been voted the sixth best uni the country for dealing with mental health services, according to The Tab's Mental Health Rankings 2017.

We got the fifth best score for satisfaction with the university's services, a measure based on survey responses

The Tab's Mental Health Rankings 2017 is the only study to assess UK universities' ability to care for students with mental health issues.
Now in their second year, the rankings cover 47 universities across the country.

We're aiming to paint the truest picture of mental health at university, and how it's handled.

The rankings pull together information about how well universities fund their mental health services, how long students have to wait for help, and how satisfied students are with their university's mental health services.
Universities have a duty to care for their students, and mental health falls squarely under this.

Over 9,000 students completed our mental health survey this year, and told us about their experiences.

For satisfaction, Loughborough ranked fifth out of 47 in our survey. Loughborough scored 37.89 of a possible 40, against a national average of 34.55.

No specific data on expenditure for the counselling and wellbeing department was available, and so Lougborough's finance was assessed under an alternative measure taking into account the student support budget. Being judged off of this basis did not negatively or positively affect Loughborough’s ranking. The ranking methodology was the same, just from an alternate data source.

Of the five universities who were included under this measure, Loughborough was the second highest, scoring 24.71 out of a possible 40. The national average was 16.89, which included universities who were ultimately judged off expenditure for their counselling and wellbeing departments.

The university did not provide a comment in response to the rankings.
