A Loughborough uni coach has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an athlete

The 37-year-old has officially been suspended by British Athletics


David Parker, 37, a Loughborough University graduate turned javelin coach has been suspended by British Athletics, with whom he held a part time contract, after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of the female athletes.

Parker, who is lead throws coach at the university is under investigation for violating the strict rule against teacher-student relationships, as the athlete in question was studying at the university at the time.

An official statement from the athletics organisation has been issued that states: "British Athletics and Loughborough University can confirm that a coach has been suspended pending an investigation. Both organisations are working closely to support any athlete who may be impacted in any way.”

David Parker was the world junior javelin in 1998, and was also the British team leader at the European U23 Championship that was held this year.
