Loughborough students awarded medals in the 2017 World Athletics Championships

This is hardly surprising though

It comes as a shock to no one that four Loughborough students have been awarded medals in the 2017 World Athletics Championships that have been held in London.

Former student Martyn Rooney came away with a bronze medal after coming third in the 4x400m relay. There were more successes in the 4x400m relays for the girls team with alumna Emily Diamond being awarded a silver medal.

More medals were awarded in the 4x100m relays for both British teams with Loughborough based Asha Philip and Danny Talbot both gaining medals.

These weren't the only successes for Loughborough with current psychology student Morgan Lake placing sixth in the women's high jump final.

Altogether there were 19 Loughborough athletes that took part in the event, with five of those being current students.
