Ben ClarkeLoughborough is the most popular first choice university for prospective freshers, according to a new survey.
Our prestigious uni was selected as the favourite “firm choice” for over 8,100 would-be undergrads looking to attend university in 2016.
Fellow rivals Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham and Surrey made up the top five first choices, but our position at the top of whatuni.com’s most-wanted pile was never in doubt.

This latest success story should hardly be surprising after we were crowned “University of the Year” and bagged first place for accommodation and best student union.
We’ve always topped all the sports tables, but now can’t stop coming first in everything else.
Emma Leech, Director of Marketing and Advancement at Luf, paid tribute to our hard-working students and staff.
She said: “This has been a brilliant year for Loughborough.
“We’ve seen our league table positions climb and a number of awards that we have won this year, including the WUSCAS, have helped put us in the spotlight.
“The Loughborough community really is amazing.
“The energy and commitment of our staff and students, together with our unique partnership with the Students’ Union, is at the heart of everything we do and we are absolutely delighted to rank so highly in the ‘Final 5’.”
