Petition started to reinstate Reckless as SU President

Oh when will it end?

Disgraced Ed Reckless has received sympathy from a petition demanding he is reinstated.

In the latest of a series of petitions, but this time to bring Reckless back after he resigned from his position as the President of Loughborough SU on 31st March before taking up the role.

The petition says: “He was voted in fairly by the students.

“Forced to stand down due to backlash caused by an altercation with a female student. Whilst his actions cannot be condoned, if the shoe was on the other foot, there would have been no call for their heads.

“He was voted in, the role is his and he shouldn’t have had to stand down because people didn’t like him being voted in.”

Bizarrely, the petition was created by someone claiming to be from the United States. Supporters of Reckless argued the original petition to oust him was unfair when it was signed from people outside of Loughborough’s student body.

The petition was made less than 24 hours after his resignation.

Students have taken to commenting on the petition, expressing their outrage, such as George Hargy who said: “I wholeheartedly agree, it’s a farce he has been removed.”

A campaign for a new President will begin in the Summer term with a fresh election.
