Petition started to oust Reckless as SU President

The petition reads, “*Trigger Warning – Violence Against Women*”

A damming online petition has been set up to oust SU President elect, Ed Reckless.

The petition, which is called “Reckless is as Reckless does” has called for “Ed Reckless to stand down as Loughborough Students’ Union President”.

Reckless, who was voted in as SU President earlier this month, was embroiled in controversy as it emerged that he slapped a girl twice.

The petition says, “During Executive Election campaigning period it was released that Ed Reckless was currently banned from the Students’ Union premises for striking a woman in the face twice during a drunken Union night out.

“He was banned from the very Union he wished to lead for being violent towards a woman, and yet he now represents and speaks on behalf of all Loughborough students.

“We do not want a President who has been actively been violent towards a women to represent us.”

The change.org campaign already has received nearly 1000 signatures since last night (March 21).

The Epinal has approached Reckless for a comment.
