UCL and Imperial both make QS University World Rankings top 10

UCL has also shone in the individual subject rankings alongside LSE

Imperial and UCL are the only London universities that have made it into the top ten universities in the world. UCL and LSE have also taken top spots in various rankings by subject.

The QS World Rankings by Subject 2021, encompass 51 different subjects, and are decided based on “academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact”.

As already mentioned, Imperial and UCL have ranked as the eighth and tenth universities (respectively) in the world, with overall scores of 93.6 (Imperial) and 92.9 (UCL).

On an individual subject basis, UCL has ranked in the top three universities for three subjects. UCL ranked first in the world for education and training with an overall score of 95.2, which is 4.4 points above Harvard who ranked second.

UCL has also ranked second for architecture with an overall score of 95.9, beat only by MIT, and third for archaeology with a score of 93.9, just below Cambridge and Oxford.

Another London university that has received high world rankings per subject is LSE. LSE has ranked second in the world for geography with an overall score of 96, just below Oxford. LSE has also ranked second for the social sciences and management category, which includes three third place rankings for communication and media studies (94.3 overall score), social policy and administration (95 overall score), and sociology (95.4 overall score).
