UCL is the third best uni in the UK

Obviously the best in London

According to a new list by the Centre for World University Rankings,  UCL is the third best uni in the UK. Beaten only by Oxbridge, we’re sitting pretty near the top of a 25,000 strong table of degree awarding institutions.

Aside from being third in the UK, we were also ranked 31st in the world, putting us firmly in the top 0.25 per cent of the world’s unis.

The ranking takes into account the usual list of factors including quality of teaching, alumni employment and academic citations as well as a score for “broad impact”.

This puts us ahead of Southampton, Leeds, Sheffield and pretty much every other uni in the world. Meanwhile, across town, King’s just about scraped into the top 100, landing at a less than respectable 92.

Earlier this year, QS ranked UCL the best uni in the world for education and the 11th best place to study medicine.
