RUMS rugby to play in oldest rugby final in the world

It’s called the United Hospitals Challenge Cup

RUMS rugby are competing in the United Hospitals Challenge Cup Final tomorrow night against St. George’s.

The UH Cup, which started in 1874, is the oldest rugby cup competition in the world, outdating the likes of the Calcutta Cup between England and Scotland.

Having won only twice, RUMS first won the coveted trophy 128 years ago, and their second win was just last year, so tomorrow they hope to retain their victory at Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club where they will be playing St George’s.

Tickets are £5.00 on the door from 7pm, and kick off is at 8pm. There is a free bus leaving from Bloomsbury Theatre to and from the game for supporters, with the additional bonus of free entry to ULU afterwards.

Any further information can be found here.

Star full back, Joe Hearle, told The Tab: “You will never watch an amateur game more fiercely fought, the atmosphere will top Twickenham.

“The UH cup is the most fiercely contested amateur competition I have ever played in and it’s not one to miss.”
