The RAG Society Jailbreak has started

Last year someone managed to get all the way to New York

The most hotly anticipated charity event of the year, Jailbreak, launched this morning at 8am.

Each team is tasked with travelling as far away from Bloomsbury as possible without spending any money on transport within a 36-hour period.

They started  this morning, laden with heavy backpacks, clad head to toe in UCL stash or fancy dress, running in all directions from the Main Quad.

Each year teams manage to blag themselves onto planes, travelling to different continents in some cases. Teams in the past have made it to Marrakech, Budapest, New York and Istanbul.

This year they are raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and have so far raised well over £1000. One team, adventurously named “The Scrubs”, has already raised over £600.

History of Art Fresher, Lizzie Atansova said: “The Teenage Cancer Trust is a really important charity. They have a ward at UCLH, and after a talk was given by one of their representatives, I was convinced the money raised would go to a good cause. Plus, the jailbreak sounds like so much fun.”

Lizzie is part of a team called “Ferris Bueller’s Day-and-a-half off”, and if you see a small huddle of poorly-dressed penguins begging for a lift to Heathrow, she’ll probably be among them.

If you would like to donate to one of the teams, it is still possible, you can do so here.
