Storm Imogen is battering London today

Gusts of 70mph are expected

The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for London and the South East, in preparation for Storm Imogen.

It will bring winds of up to 70mph to the capital alongside heavy rainfall.

The storm is likely to affect several rail links including Southern, South West Trains, the Gatwick Express and Thameslink. Train operators have imposed speed restrictions on several routes until at least 5pm today as a precaution to the strong winds, so expect your journeys home to take longer.

Gary Webb from Highways England told Sky News: “Be aware of sudden gusts of wind, and give high-sided vehicles, caravans, and motorbikes plenty of space.”

Sky News presenter Nazaneen Ghaffar said: “Tonight the winds should ease a little, but it’ll be a wet and windy day tomorrow and colder air will give some wintry showers over high ground. The rest of the week will continue unsettled but it shouldn’t be as stormy.”

Tomorrow should be a much brighter day, with sunny spells expected alongside lighter winds as the storm passes by.
