Blaze next to uni leaves Tottenham Court Road blocked off
Two men were rescued by crane from a balcony overlooking Tottenham Court Road due to a blaze in the flats above Spearmint Rhino.

Just after 3pm, smoke was seen billowing from the scene and numerous police officers and half-a-dozen fire crews descended on the area in response to calls to 999. A section of Tottenham Court Road is still cordoned off by officers.University Street and Grafton Way, which connect with Gower Street, are also blocked.
Firefighters could be seen at 4:30pm checking the fifth floor of the Paramount Court, which is along University Street and extends above Spearmint Rhino.

According to one officer, it is still unsure as to when the scene will be clear. There are no statements as of yet that indicate the present condition of the two people rescued.
