What?

UCL Squash club will be embarking on a fantastic cause- the 24HR SQUASHATHON! The players will be playing endless games of squash continuously for 24 hours and all proceeds will be donated to the charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

When?

Friday 15th March- Saturday 16th March at 5:00pm

Why?

You may have heard or read about the tragic death of a young up-and-coming squash star, Harry Faulkner, who died on court a few weeks ago due to a sudden cardiac arrest.

As fellow squash players and sportsmen and women, UCLU Squash Club would like to highlight this silent killer which accounts for a minimum of 12 apparently fit and healthy young people every week in the UK.

The UCLU Squash Club will be raising funds and awareness for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) by maintaining a squash game continuously for 24hrs.

We would be very grateful for any donations, small or large, to help in the effort towards raising awareness for this condition, the upkeep of CRY’s subsidised cardiac screening program for young people and the help they provide to bereaved families and those suffering from life-threatening cardiac conditions.

Who?

UCLU Squash Club would appreciate the support of EVERYONE, even if you have never touched a squash racket! Whether you decide to play, watch or cheer for your friends, the Squash Club will be very grateful to have the pleasure of your company (and money).

Why you should participate?

Although the Squash club is focused on raising as much money as it can for this charity, it will be entertaining us with plenty of fun games and coaching tips.

• Squash is a fantastic sport
• It is for a good cause
• Give squash a go if you have never played
• There will be games such as ‘Beat Our Team’- where you can bet £1 a point in a game against one of their team players.
• Other UCL clubs will be given the chance to take on one of the team players
• Don’t miss out on the chance to play current world No.5 Alison Waters
