All the things you need to show your mates in Liverpool when they come to visit

Pals coming to The Pool? We’ve got you covered

When your friends from home come to visit you at uni, you want to show them all the best spots. Being a student here, you know how great the city can be, but sometimes it’s hard to think of places to go. Venturing out of the house as a student isn’t a common occurrence, after all we barely have any money half the time. But don’t stress about trying to fill the day, we have done the thinking and planning for you.

The Tavern

This is the perfect place to take your mates to grab some food, especially if you live on Smithdown as it’s right around the corner. They have some amazing pancakes you should try or treat yo self to a full English if you’re hanging.

If you don’t fancy this, or are still unfortunately living in halls, you might want somewhere closer. If this is the case, check out Leaf on Bold Street, Brunch Club on Duke street, or Love thy Neighbour on Hatton Garden. They’re all amazing alternatives for food.

The Docks

The Docks may be a given, but it is definitely a solid option when ANYONE is visiting Liverpool. It poses many great features, whether it be food (perfect spot for an Instagrammable coffee), sunset views or just a nice walk. There are plenty of museums as well if your friends fancy a bit of Liverpool culture.

Concert Square

You’ll most likely want a drink at some point, especially if you haven’t seen your friends in ages and want a proper catch up. Take them along to the famous Concert Square – if its a nice day you could sit in the outside square. Even until the night when the heaters are turned on to keep you warm.

If you’re feeling crazy and like staying out, you could stay until the early hours of the morning, going into the plenty of bars and clubs in the surrounding area. Show your friends how the scousers do it!

Alternatively, if the student loan has recently dropped and you and your friends fancy keeping it classy, there are loads of places head for ‘nice drinks’. We suggest starting in somewhere with 2 for 1 cocktails such as Be At One (before 8pm), Slug and Lettuce, or Turtle Bay. Hopefully you will keep it classy all night and could head over to Red Door, Dash or Neighbourhood.

Liverpool One

If you are going on a night out with your friends and realise you actually have no clothes to wear, head to the great range of shops at Liverpool One for that last minute outfit. Liverpool has one of the best shopping experiences in the North.

Need a lunch break after all of the hard work searching through the Urban Outfitters sale? The terrace at the top of Liverpool One has a range of gorgeous food – your friends are up; treat yourself to a Five guys or Waga’s.

Coffee break

If you’re in need of filling a few hours before your friends catch their train, go grab a coffee. Some of our favourites are Bold Street Coffee, Volpi on Duke Street or Moose Coffee on Dale Street.

A great hidden gem of ours is Thoughtfully Café in Cleveland Square, which could be tied into the walk on The Docks as it is quite near.

Depending on your location, there’s plenty of places around Smithdown and Greenbank area as well to grab your green tea or coffee. A couple of our faves are the café in the Palm House and The Watering Can just next to Greenbank park.

“Treat yo self” to a hot choc at plenty of cute cafés

There are so many places to take your friends in Liverpool and show them exactly why you decided to come here for uni – hopefully they will agree with your choices!
