Series of assaults reported in Crown Street Park near south campus

There were four incidents in one day

University of Liverpool students today received an email informing us of a series of assaults in Crown Street Park. For those unaware, Crown Street Park is the park between south campus and Smithdown – a park many Liverpool students walk through on a daily basis on their commute from Smithdown to campus.

The email detailed that there were four incidents on Thursday 15th February at around 6pm, three cyclists were assaulted and fourth person reported an attempted robbery. Fortunately, none of the victims suffered serious injuries.

University of Liverpool Campus Support Team is working with Merseyside police to increase patrols in the area and protect its students. The email also offers the services of Chaperone service for all students or staff that require accompaniment to their transport or accommodation. This is subject to availability, but should you wish to utilise this service the number to call is 0151 794 3252.

Alex, a second year biochemistry student, told The Tab Liverpool his opinion:

"I walk through that park everyday, including the date of the incident. I never normally worry about things like that, but it is a bit disconcerting that this has happened – I hope it's a one off and doesn't become a regular occurrence."
