Liverpool has been ranked in the top 30 unis in the UK

And 177th in the world


The University of Liverpool has been ranked 27th in the UK in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018, being placed 177th globally.

Liverpool John Moores University, however, remains at 501st in the world and has been since the 2016 rankings.

In the Times Higher Educations 2018 top UK university rankings Uni of Liverpool stands at 27th whilst LJMU is 60th.

The first column is UK rankings and the second is world

Uni of Liverpool was ranked 59th for Clinical, pre-clinical & health, 93rd for Physical sciences, and 99th for Arts & humanities.

The rankings which are released annually are based on 13 performance indicators which are grouped into five areas:

  • Teaching (the learning environment)
  • Research (volume, income and reputation)
  • Citations (research influence)
  • International outlook (staff, students and research)
  • Industry income (knowledge transfer)
