There’s a house fire on Egerton Road

Firefighters have been called to the blaze

A house is on fire on Egerton Road in the Smithdown area.

Smoke is continuing to pour out of the property with the front window appearing to have exploded during the incident.

There are three fire engines, at least 11 firefighters along with both police and ambulances.

The smoke is spreading fast across the whole area with students reporting that they can see smoke from as far as ASDA and near the cemetery.

A member of the fire service at the scene told The Tab that nobody had been injured in the blaze and that the two boys who were in the house at the time were safe.  The blaze is said to have started in the front room of the house but spread to the first floor.

Unconfirmed reports have suggested that the fire was the result of an electric plug fault, with The Tab’s source suggesting the incident could have happened to anyone.

Max, an eyewitness at the scene said: “It was big. We opened the window and you couldn’t see because of the smoke. We couldn’t even see. It was roaring and exploding. Fucking hell. They got here so quick.”
