Liverpool ranked in the top one per cent of unis in the world

JMU didn’t make the top 500

According to a new list by the Centre for World University Rankings, Liverpool is the 17th best uni in the UK. Beaten only by Oxbridge and a few predictable others, we’re sitting pretty near the top of a 25,000 strong table of degree awarding institutions.

Aside from being top 20 in the UK, we were also ranked 201st in the world, putting us firmly in the top 1 per cent of the world’s unis.

The ranking takes into account the usual list of factors including quality of teaching, alumni employment and academic citations as well as a score for “broad impact”.

This puts us ahead of Durham, Newcastle and pretty much every other uni in the world. Across town, JMU failed to break into the top 500, coming an unimpressive 665th

Earlier this year, QS ranked Liverpool the 152nd best uni in the world and the 6th best place to study Veterinary science on the planet.
