Third year student hosting charity bonanza at Buyers Club
Acts include resident DJs of Abandon Silence and Melodic Distraction
Third year UoL music student Richard Bond , is hosting an end of year charity ‘night circus’ bonanza to start your summer holiday with a bang. The money raised on the night will go to protecting children in war zones.
The carnival themed night is being held at Buyers Cub on Thursday 2nd June and will see university and local bands taking the stage, followed by DJ sets by Josh Aitman from Melodic Distraction and Andrew Hill from Abandon Silence. Bands playing the night include Venus Demilo, Pangea and Cosmic Warlord as well as local act Pure Joy who’ve recently played The Great Escape Festival in Brighton.
There’s also going to be a charity raffle on the night, with prizes including 2x tickets to Abandon Silence Farewell to Beginnings (which has sold out), 2x tickets to Fiesta Bombarda 4th Birthday Carnival, 2x tickets to TATE Liverpool’s Francis Bacon exhibition, Independent Liverpool cards and more to be announced.
A raffle ticket is included when you buy an advance ticket online and more can be bought on the night.
The event is set to be a really immersive experience, with Richard and the team going all out on decoration, creating the theme ‘People are strange: an end of year carnival of sights and sounds’.
Richard, who is the President of War Child University of Liverpool, said: “We tried to pick bands and DJs that reflect some of the great nights out that us and our friends have had in Liverpool over our time at uni. I mean, if you don’t know who Venus Demilo are yet, you need to get out more!
“We are also really stoked to have Josh from Melodic Distraction and Andrew from Abandon Silence on board, who both help organise some of the best and most respected club nights in the city!”
£3 earlybird tickets have already sold out but you can buy your £5 advance tickets online here. Tickets on the door will be £6 before 12am, and £7 after.
