Liverpool named one of the best tourist destinations in the UK

Damn right

Travellers in the UK have rated Liverpool the third best destination to visit in the country. The results come from TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards which are based on reviews and opinions from thousands of people.

A computer determined the results by assessing the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and other attractions of destinations around the UK. London and Edinburgh were the only cities that came above Liverpool according to the results.

A spokesman for TripAdvisor, Chris Brown, the director of Marketing Liverpool, said:

“The greatest affirmation comes from the people who have spent their time and money to visit a destination, which is why the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards is so respected. Third place, behind London and Edinburgh, is a terrific achievement and the many businesses that make up our visitor economy should be proud.

“It’s a strong sign that the visitor economy, which is so important to the city region, is in rude health. From the moment they get here, visitors see that Liverpool is an extremely friendly, safe, vibrant city and are keen to tell others about it through TripAdvisor.”

TripAdvisor spokesperson James Kay said:

“The destinations best rated by travellers are often those that marry value with great experiences, and Liverpool certainly ticks both boxes – the average room rate bookable on TripAdvisor is under £100 and is almost half the price of London.”
