The Guild played Bowie all afternoon yesterday

RIP Ziggy

The Guild played a perfect tribute to the late David Bowie yesterday on the afternoon of his death, playing his most loved hits throughout the building.

Their twitter, @LiverpoolGuild, read: “We’ll be playing some David Bowie tunes in the Courtyard from 1pm today in honour of the legend.”

Alex Ferguson, deputy president of The Guild told us, “We did it in honour of a great musician and innovator who did so much for self-expression and the evolution of music.

“The Liverpool Guild has a strong tradition of live music and music lovers, exemplified in an active student radio station. It is a tragedy to the music world, especially since it all seemed to happen very suddenly.

“Bowie smashed boundaries by not wanting to be straitjacketed by gender and sexuality, and was ultimately beautiful. We played him because he sits so importantly in student music culture, doing everything from experience rock to dance funk, in a time in our lives of self-discovery and learning.”

Rest in pease Bowie. From The Tab, The Guild, Liverpool and beyond.
