Sugar Skull facepaint tutorial

More scary than sweet

With the sugar skull proving a popular choice for Halloween costumes this year, here’s an easy step by step guide.

As long as you’ve got some black and white clothes you’ve got an instant costume, and a more original take on skull facepaint.

You will need:

  • White facepaint
  • Black facepaint
  • 2 eyeshadows in different shades of the same colour
  • Sponge
  • Makeup/paint brush

Step 1:

Cover your whole face in white.

Step 2:

Next fill in your eye sockets with eyeshadow all the way up to your eyebrows, using a lighter shade on the eyelid and a darker shade to colour the crease upwards, and line under the eye.12066059_10207923091662016_8072761339615674072_n

Step 3:

Circle the eye-sockets in black face paint, starting above your eyebrows. Then draw semi-circles all the way around the circles and blend the black circles into your eyeshadow.
