It’s all about the dark side

The Guild transformed into a sci-fi wonderland yesterday to celebrate ComicCon.

The annual event saw famous heroes and villains (mainly villains) from TV, film and game on site with numerous stalls selling coveted memorabilia.

Excited visitors were also treated to guest talks and signings from various Star Wars, Red Dwarf and Dr. Who stars, and a cosplay competition for those who rocked up in costume.

The event is a must for any Northern fans who can’t always travel down to London for the bigger event.

You could also pay £20 for a “dinner with the stars” the night before, with one of the guests accompanying the lucky few to a two course dinner.

The day was a busy success, and organisers also held a raffle to raise money for The Isabella Trust – a charity which supports families with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing difficulties.

Chillin’ killin’

Second year English and Communications student Luke had an absolute whale of a time.

He told us: “It was the perfect venue for a well-sized event.

“There was lots of incredible stuff considering how small it is compared to the bigger ones like London.

“I would definitely go again next year, it was crazy cheap to get in.”
