24 hour Paddy’s Day party shut down after boozy brawl in street
Six people were arrested for ‘breach of peace’
Joyless police officers shut down a Paddy’s pandemonium at midday today after rowdy revellers burst onto the street.
10 police vans descended upon Brompton Avenue at 12.30pm after complaints of anti-social behaviour.
Officers were called to a “minor disturbance” on the popular street near Sefton Park, and six arrests were made.
A witness reported there was a heated argument taking place on the street, spilling out from a nearby house party.
A resident who witnessed the event unfold said: “There were about 10 patrol cars and a few police vans.
“We’ve never had trouble on this street before. I think it’s probably a student house, there’s a lot of students on this road, but it’s a really quiet area.”
The six arrested are currently in police custody, but their ages and gender have not yet been disclosed.
Merseyside Police said: “We were called to Brompton Avenue at 12.30pm today after reports of anti-social behaviour.
“A number of people were stood outside and there was a minor disturbance.
“No one was hurt and six people were arrested on suspicion of breach of peace and are being questioned.”
