More chaos on Smithdown as fire engines called to deal with ‘dangerous’ sign

Well, it is Friday 13th

Two fire engines were called to Smithdown Road this afternoon to remove a neon shop sign.

The sign over Bleach hair salon, on the corner of Langdale Road, was in a “dangerous condition” after it was seen hanging from one bracket.

A fire crew was called just before 4pm to the busy junction, near Ullet Road, and two lanes on Smithdown Road were closed.

A spokesman for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: “At 3.44pm two fire engines and an ariel were sent to a salon on Smithdown Road to repair a sign which was in a dangerous condition.”

The incident is the fourth on Smithdown in a week. A boy died after being hit by a bus on Wednesday, a taxi driver died in a road accident and there was a fatal shooting last Saturday.
