Smithdown blocked off after man in twenties killed in fatal bus crash

A man in his twenties has been killed after he was hit by a bus outside the ASDA on Smithdown Road. 

The accident is the third incident this week, after a 17-year-old was fatally shot on Saturday.

Now a serious accident involving an 86C bus has blocked the road from the top, causing huge delays to traffic according to police.

According to witnesses a young person was hit by the bus and dragged underneath it around 3:15pm.

Three fire engines, two ambulances and over 10 police cars are on the scene.

Police confirmed the victim died at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Wavertree this afternoon, Wednesday, 11 February.

“At about 3.15pm emergency services were called to Smithdown Road, near to Asda, reporting a bus had been in collision with a male pedestrian.

“Sadly, the man died at the scene.”
