Oh so fresh: DJ Fresh going sober this fresher’s week

The sensible Oxford chart topper won’t be partying when he comes to Liverpool

DJ Fresh has revealed he will just be having the one beer when he headlines our ball on Saturday.

The DJ, who claims his perfect night out is one he “can’t remember”, will be staying sober.

But insists he’ll still be “on the same wavelength” as his “wasted” audience.

He told The Tab: “Generally when we’re on tour in the UK we don’t really go out.

“What I like to do is literally have a beer just so I feel like I’m on the same wavelength as everyone.”

But even though this guy won’t be making the most of Liverpool’s nightlife, he does love the city.

“I’ve been to Liverpool loads over the years”, he said.

“We have a lot of support in Liverpool, which makes it a special place to go back to.”

DJ Fresh, whose real name is Daniel Stein, has roots in the city.

He said: “Weirdly enough, my mum is originally from Liverpool.

“I think the Scouse accent is hilarious. I often try and do it but I always end up doing Irish by mistake which doesn’t make any sense.

“I do the accents really well when I think it’s a different accent, so like if you asked me to do an Irish accent, I could probably do a really good Indian one. I just get confused.”

When it comes to performing for students, Stein loves the atmosphere.

He said: “‘They’re the crowd that is always up for having a great time.

“Everybody’s wasted, and there’s always such a mish-mash of different cultures, and musical tastes.

“I want to play a gig that leaves people having a great time, that’s my goal.’
