Here’s some endearing advice from the parents of this year’s freshers

“Text me every night after tea”

| UPDATED freshers parents' advice university

Thousands of 18 year olds are flying the nest, but what parting advice did their parents give them?

Avash, Orthoptics at Liverpool

“My mom literally does everything for me.  My friends love taking the mic but I’m used to it now.  She still buys my clothes, packs my bag for college, runs my bath and even does my eyebrows.

“She’ll be reminding me every month to pluck them because she won’t be there to do them for me, and girls hate mono-brows.”

The perfect Scouse brow

Alice Anderson, Psychology at Leeds

“I tell my mom everything, it’s like a perfect combo between mother and best friend.  It can sometimes be embarassing because she isn’t very mumsy or quiet like my friends’ moms.

“She’s been trying to add me on Facebook for years, but I won’t have it. She’s just made an Instagram too so I can send her all my clubbing pics.”

Bezzle’z

Rob, Architecture at Manchester

“I genuinely get really happy when my mummy texts me, I love her. Not one of those kids that plays down the respect I have for her”

Oh so poshe…

Diana Nguyen, Business and Economics at BCU

“When I’m out, my dad will ring and  the first thing he asks, without a doubt, is ‘what have you eaten today?’

“He has bought so much Ramen, it’s like his own stockpile. There’s probably enough to fill most my suitcase.”

Hikmat Marino, Fashion Journalism in London

“My mum knows how much I love all-things-Kardashian and that im the king of Vogue.

“She says I need to concerntrate more on my studying, but I don’t expect her to understand my passion for fashion.

“I’ve obviously already started packing for uni, she suggested I brought a comfortable tracksuit and less shoes.

“Yeah, I ignored her advice.”

James Marten, Biological Sciences at Liverpool

“I’m quite big on raving, it’s hard to hide that from my mum.

“She always tries to give me cringey advice about making A*s my priority at uni, she really doesn’t have a clue.”

Harri, Psychology at Leeds

“Well I’m a twin so my mum’s always told me and my sister having twins is hard enough. She doesn’t want a third little head to feed.”

Dom, Physics at Newcastle

“I’m a bit OCD when it comes to house habbits. I like everything perfectly organised. My dad’s the same.

“Hes always saying things like ‘don’t wash your clothes with anyone else, you don’t know what they’re hiding.’

“I mean, it might seem a bit extreme but part of me agrees with him.”
