Enthusiastic freshers dismayed by flop line-up
Is this the shittest Fresher’s ever?
We gave the world the Beatles and we spent £14 million on a new Guild.
But Liverpool is going from Capital of Culture to Capital of Cringe thanks to a Z-list line-up for Fresher’s Week 2014.
In what has been dubbed an “unbelievably bad” line-up by students, the Guild has booked Zane Lowe, Basshunter and “comedian” Russell Kane to bore freshers silly.
And brazen Guild philistines are demanding a shocking £50 to see these flop acts.
Even more shamelessly, the SU are charging an extra £10 for a ‘platinum’ band, giving exclusive entry to gigs featuring funnyman Russell Kane, Hypnodog and Infinite Wrestling.
Game of Thrones fans will be delighted with an appearance from Hodor, yet his knack as a DJ is yet to be decided as he hosts UoL’s headphone disco and UV rave.
The week is slightly improved with DJ Fresh, Fuse ODG and ShiftK3Y headlining the Welcome Ball on Saturday September 27. But to see this, students still have to fork out an eye watering £50 for the wristband.
Lauren Whittingham, a second year English student, is appalled by this year’s so-called star studded entertainment.
She said: “I couldn’t spend any time in the Guild last year because of the renovations, and now because of the line-up’s poor value for money I think I’ll go to the free welcome fair but that’s pretty much it.”
Amy Dietsch, a third year English student, agrees. She said: “The line-up is unbelievably bad. It’s nowhere near as good as other fresher’s line-ups.”
