Students were outraged last night as the main teaching resource, Vital, was unavailable for a total of three hours.

The portal, which allows students to access lecture materials and their previous assessment marks, has since been restored and the university has apologised profusely.

Already stressed out students were trying to revise for today’s exams when the portal went down

But that does not make up for the fact that thousands of stressed out students were unable to access vital material for today’s exams, causing unnecessary panic in an already stressful time.

The university tried to restore Vital on several occassions, but due to the amount of traffic trying to access the portal, Vital continued to crash.

The uni have since released a statement, apologising for the upset caused.  A spokesperson said:  “We are aware of the anxiety and frustration this caused both staff and students.

“The issue was quickly resolved but the process to restore VITAL did result in slow performance for a short while. This, unfortunately, is what took time.

“The filestore is being improved during the Summer and this will significantly reduce the risk of any loss of VITAL as a result of heavy demand.

“Please be assured that we take any break in service very seriously and will be analysing the causes in full. Again, we would like to apologise for any disruption and distress that the loss of VITAL will have caused.”
