Smithdown traffic chaos!

Bus crash on Smithdown road causes anarchy for road users.

A vehicle collision just as Friday’s rush hour kicked in wreaked havoc along the length of Smithdown Road and traffic was reduced to a crawl.

The incident, which happened just before 4pm, was between a single decker bus and a Toyota. Paramedics were called to the scene but this is believed to have been a precaution.

It happened at the junction between Smithdown and Gainsborough Road but the effects  were felt along the entire length of Smithdown.

Police stopped traffic from entering the road

As the issue was dealt with by police, traffic built up more and more and stress levels escalated from hundreds of drivers eager to get home for the weekend.

Debris from the incident was visible on the road, notably a rather battered hubcap and some shattered glass.

Police at the scene

When traffic was no longer being diverted down Lawrence Road – an interesting area of Liverpool – it was allowed back onto Smithdown, albeit at a rather slow pace.
