Things you absolutely must do before you revise

10 things it would be silly not to do before you start revising

| UPDATED revision students

We’re in the exam period, and we all should be revising. However, one cannot just revise. One cannot simply sit at one’s desk, open a textbook, and begin. No, no, no, one must first do the preliminary revision tasks.

1. Tidy your bedroom.

You cannot revise in that hole of a room. Tidy room, tidy mind.

2. Check Facebook.

I mean, come on, you’ve just cleaned your room, you deserve a break.

3. Organise your notes.

How could you possibly revise from such unorganised notes? Stick them in a file. Colour code them. Go crazy with a highlighter or two.

Absolutely essential for any revision task

4. Go get a snack.

Revision on an empty stomach is a bad idea – you need fuel for that brain of yours. Push the boat out – have a drink too why don’t you? You don’t want to be dehydrated for this big day of revision that you have planned.

Mmmm, snack time.

5. Check Facebook.

Something important may have happened in the last half an hour.

6. Pack a bag and go to the library.

Who were you kidding? You were never going to get any revision done at home.

7. Go to Tesco on the way to the library.

You need to stock up on revision snacks if you’re going to have a long day at the library. Crisps and Red Bull are a must.

8. Once you’re at the library, alternate between stages 4 and 5 for a further hour.

9. Clean your desk.

You can’t revise with all those empty crisp packets on your desk.

10. You’re finally ready to revise!

You can’t put it off any longer

Do an hour or two and then call it a day. You need to rest. You need to be on top form for tomorrow’s revision (you know, a repeat of these 10 steps).
