Make Your Mind Up Mate

Uni decide to close libraries over the weekend…and then change their mind

The University of Liverpool shocked students this afternoon with an email detailing the closure or part closure of the Campus libraries over the weekend.

The epitome of inconvenience

The email detailed that Sydney Jones would only be open until 5.30 on Saturday, and Harold Cohen closed from 8.30pm on Friday. Both libraries were supposed to be closed on Sunday also.

With upcoming deadlines and exam stress mounting, students (including myself) took to twitter to voice their anger at the University’s decision.

The closure was planned as a result of Industrial Strikes, after a week blighted by library closures, cancelled lectures and student occupations.

However, the University quickly responded to the uproar by announcing a U Turn, and proposing that the libraries would now be open over the weekend.

What an improvement

Dismayed and furious students rejoiced around the city at the prospect of being able to spend YET ANOTHER weekend locked in the depths of the libraries.
