Liverpool’s Urban Winter Village is now open, adding something a little different to the traditional festivities in Liverpool.

From Thursday November 21 until Sunday December 22, Williamson Square will be awash with shipping containers full of Christmas gifts, food and drink.

Ranked 5th in the UK retail rankings, it’s no surprise Liverpool has chosen to embrace this unique, urban architectural concept to support its growing independent retailers.

The market is set to showcase the products of over 20 companies throughout the month in around 14 containers.

Amongst the collection of festive arts and crafts will be everything from fashion and health and beauty, to the luxurious Lola Loves boutique and Belle and Blue’s quirky homeware gifts, providing plenty opportunities to find presents for all your family and friends.

Inside the market’s cargo lounge is a bar featuring hot cider cocktails, mulled wine and a special Hendrick’s gin number from IMIX – the perfect drink to watch one of the various musical performances in the square over the next month.

The hot cocktails, including the delicious Merry Jerry (Sailor Jerry spiced rum, ginger, apple juice, sweet cider, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger), start from just £3.95.

Omar Farag from ‘The Teabox Company’, who will be selling premium loose leaf tea at the market, said: “It’s a great opportunity for lesser known businesses to promote their services and products.”

Omar says it’s a great opportuity for small businesses like his own.

There will also be a special Christmas jumper event on Friday December 6, which hopes to break the world record for the most amount of Christmas jumpers worn in one place.  It’s all in aid of Radio City’s ‘Cash for Kids’ charity so pop down to Church Street from 6pm to take part.

If your Christmas jumper is looking a little dated or plain, head along to the bandstand from 1pm and the Craft Creative team will help you to pimp it up.

So grab a cocktail, browse through the containers and watch one of the many bands with friends.
